Mac OS X 10.3.9 update

Posted by dom on Sat Apr 16 11:27:09 +0200 2005

Interesting stuff:
  • Safari 1.3 including a big WebKit update – judging from a little testing also that speed issues with AutoFill have been resolved. What a relief.
  • Rendezvous is still Rendezvous, not Bonjour – I really excpected them to change that in this release
  • Disk Utility has been updated to version 10.4.4 – No idea what they changed
  • iChat has been updated to use the InstantMessage Framework v194 instead of v193 – subtle change
  • Keychain Access has been updated to 3.1.4 (v185) from 3.1.3 (v183), but of course still sucks. I will be so happy when switching to tiger. Finally being able to search my keychain…. wohooo…
And things from Apples release notes of course:
  • Avoids a potential Mail issue if the application is running when Daylight Savings Time changes
Finally :-) Have you read all those reports? My mother was affected too, one hour full of 100% CPU, which then just stopped. Everyone, including me, had his own theory what helped.
  • Accessing certain websites, such as msnbc.com, mail.yahoo.com, ticketmaster.com, and others, no longer displays a “bad server response” alert that could occur in Safari.
Funny thing, the german apple store also showed this error from time to time :-)

  1. Jep the WebKit stuff is really nice. Hurray for client side xslt. Now if I could only figure out how document.execCommand() and the new Selection object are supposed to work…
